Production Manager Jobs: This Production Manager’s job is an exciting opportunity for an experienced production manager. Ideally you will have sign industry production management or shopfitting production management experience. This vacancy is with a well established sign manufacturer, offering bespoke manufacturing in metal and plastic / acrylic fabrication, as well as large format graphics / digital print, for major branding projects. Projects vary, ranging from one off, batch production runs through to large volume roll outs. To be considered for this  Production Managers job you’ll need experience working as a production manager within a fast paced environment.

Our client has a great name and reputation within their industry and has enjoyed significant recent growth, winning major national and international corporate identity and branding contracts with blue chip clients and brands. Due to the restructure of the current Works Director / Operations Directors responsibilities, to enable them to focus on directing other areas of the business, they’re now recruiting a Production Manager to take ownership of Production and oversee the Drawing Office.

The role requires you to be able to adapt to client demands and ensure products are manufactured, often to short lead times. It will require you to be a flexible and creative Production Manager, who can get the jobs done and the work through the factory during busy periods.

  • As Production Manager you will hold responsibility for managing all aspects of the production process and manufacturing facilities as well as overseeing the design studio.
  • Day to day running of production including planning scheduling, supply chain and sub-contractor management.
  • Management and improvement of gross profits, achieving agreed targets for both output and profitability.
  • Management of 35+ shopfloor staff across different sites and 7 in the design studio / drawing office, including recruitment, training, appraisal and disciplinary.

You:

  • This role will require you to be hands on and able to pitch in, not just manage the team from a far. You should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of working in a similar position for a SME engineering or manufacturing business.
  • Signage experience is preferable but it is acknowledged that other allied industries will be considered and possibly advantageous. Engineering, Shopfitting / Interior fit out, retail display and fabricated point of sale / point of purchase production work with similar clients, processes and demands.
  • An understanding of batch production is required as is a flexible approach and the ability to think on your feet. You must be able to deal with what is often a fast moving and challenging environment.
  • You will have good people management skills, able to get the best out of people using motivating techniques that suit the individual.
  • You will have an appreciation of Health and safety, although the company has a Health and Safety officer.
  • You’ll know your way around a balance sheet and understand P&L.
