Recent significant growth, in terms of turnover, staff and investment provides the infrastructure and capacity for further growth. This also means the current share holders are able to plan for their future, allowing the founder and current MD to retire, transitioning the running of the business to the incoming Managing Director.

The Managing Director jobs responsibilities include:

As the Managing Director you will assume control of the organisation and oversee all business operations, people and ventures. Working with the existing directors to phase into the role, releasing them to retire over an agreed transitional period. You will report directly to the Shareholders and will be formally appointed as a Company Director.

As MD you will be the highest ranking manager in the organisation and will be responsible for the overall success of the business. Success will be measured based on performance in the following areas of responsibility:

  • Business Management
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Operations
  • Financial

This MD jobs initial objectives include:

On completion of your induction, and an agreed period of familiarisation, this MD jobs initial objectives are:

  • During the first month, while meeting all responsibilities, you will formalise the founders exit plan. Demonstrating to the Board how each responsibility is transferred to an appropriate role within the business. You will provide clear dated milestones.
  • During the first three months you will formalise the business plan and budget. Demonstrating how each element of the plan will be achieved, with clear dated financial milestones.
  • You will present your business plan to the Board for input and shareholder approval.
  • You will ensure that the transitional period is completed without weakening customer service or reductions in net profits.

You:

Ideally you’ll have experience of working within a creative manufacturing / production and installation business, supplying architectural, branding and / or furniture products.

To be considered you will need to be:

  • Living or willing to relocate to a commutable distance from the office in the Thames Valley area.
  • A strategist and a leader able to steer the company in the most profitable and robust direction, while also implementing the vision, mission and long term goals.
  • Proven experience as Managing Director or other suitable Senior Managerial position.
  • Have an outstanding appreciation of the psychology of the sales process, able to demonstrate this understanding and your ability to personally apply this to secure sales.
  • Be up-to-date with latest industry trends, able to articulate trends and potential clearly and confidently.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and delivering business plans.
  • Able to demonstrate how you encourage your team and staff.
  • Able to mentor and lead.
  • Have a current clean driving licence and pass a DBS check.
  • Be proficient with computers, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
  • Be proficient with CRM and ERP systems and appropriate usage within this type of business.

This MD jobs remuneration package:

  • Annual Salary commensurate with this role. Basic salary guide c£80-110K.
  • Uncapped bonus based on company profits. Further details to be supplied. 
  • Company car or car allowance – eg BMW 3 Series or equivalent.
  • Company expense account.
  • Pension.
  • As the Managing Director you will have advance knowledge of opportunities to purchase shares from the existing shareholders.

The process:
